Cruz's blast cleared the wall in left-center field and gave the Reds their first win in four games. The Reds had tied the game in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Alejo Lopez, who had three hits and an RBI in the game. Kyle Farmer and Matt Reynolds also had two hits apiece for Cincinnati. The Twins took an early lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Luis Arraez. They extended their lead to 3-0 in the third inning on a two-run homer by Max Kepler. The Reds chipped away at the lead with a run in the fifth inning on an RBI groundout by Farmer and another run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Reynolds. Hunter Strickland pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win for the Reds. Duran took the loss for the Twins. With the win, the Reds improved to 3-8 on the season. The Twins dropped to 6-5.
