Auburn Athletics Director John Cohen has officially announced the hiring of Hugh Freeze as the university's new head football coach. Freeze, who previously coached at Ole Miss and Liberty, returns to the SEC following a thorough search process.
Freeze's tenure at Liberty saw him lead the program to a 33-12 record, including two bowl game victories. His return to the SEC marks his third stint in the conference, having previously coached at Ole Miss from 2012 to 2016.
Freeze's arrival at Auburn comes after the departure of Bryan Harsin. Harsin was fired in October following a disappointing start to the 2022 season.
